Description
Tianxia is set during a decisive period in Chinese history: the Warring States period, around 260 BC. During this time, the seven kingdoms—Yan, Zhao, Han, Wei, Qi, Chu and Qin—were engaged in fierce conflict with each other and with nomadic tribes such as the Xiongnu, who posed a constant threat from the north.
Although sections of the Great Wall had been built since the 8th century BCE, the later part of this period saw a significant increase in defensive structures. Even before the Qin dynasty managed to unify the kingdoms, extensive fortifications, watchtowers, and new wall sections were constructed to protect the borders.
In Tianxia, players take on the role of leaders of noble families striving for prestige and favor from the powerful rulers of the seven Warring Kingdoms. The game lasts four rounds, during which you install governors in regions and strengthen the influence of various ruling houses, thus gaining their favor.
At the same time, you sell goods to merchant ships along the Chinese coast to gain wealth and bonuses. But you mustn't lose sight of the threat of nomadic warriors on the northern borders. You must train soldiers, build walls, and erect towers to defend your interests against the advancing Xiongnu. Every defensive action earns you prestige.
Each round, the nomads advance and gather more forces. When they reach the border, a battle takes place that affects all players.
At the end of the game, the player who has proven himself best as governor, politician, trader and defender of the empire wins.
Tianxia combines Euro-style strategy with tower defense elements, offering a fresh and dynamic gaming experience. Players build economic engines, defend the empire, and battle for victory via multiple paths. Each player controls a unique, asymmetric character with special powers, creating variety, depth, and high replayability. No two sessions are the same.
Created by Daniele Tascini, Tianxia is a proud addition to the acclaimed T-series. The game offers rich, strategic gameplay for experienced players, a streamlined solo mode, and innovative elements that will appeal to both fans and new players.
