Description
In Octobuns, you serve hungry guests with fresh ingredients and luxurious buns, fulfilling the requested orders. Gather the right ingredients, make delicious buns, and complete the orders of the harbor guests. Make sure they are delivered in the correct order, otherwise, your guests won't eat them. For each completed order, you receive coins, which will lead you to victory as the most successful octopus!
The goal of Octobuns is to complete orders as quickly as possible. Once someone has completed 5 orders, the game ends. When it's their turn, players can choose from four different actions and perform one of them.
As a first option, a player can take an ingredient from the market in the middle of the table and add it to their own bakery. Do you pick an ingredient that allows you to make a bun with an already present ingredient in your bakery? Then you can combine them and add the bun to your bakery in the place of these ingredients. Another action is to lure one of the harbor guests to you. By doing this, you reserve this guest for yourself; other players can no longer serve this guest. This way, you can calmly collect all the necessary ingredients without having to worry about the harbor guest being snatched by someone else.
Are you missing just that one ingredient for an order, and it's not in the market? Then you can also choose, as an action, to turn in one of your buns and retrieve this ingredient from the discard pile. The space in your bakery is limited, and sometimes there can be too many ingredients and buns in your 3x3 grid. As a final action, you can shift or remove ingredients from your bakery, thus making space for the harbor guests' orders.
Do you have the correct ingredients in the correct order in your bakery for an order? Then you may complete it after performing the action on your turn. For this, you not only receive coins but often also a bonus action that you can use at a later time. As soon as someone has completed 5 orders, the game ends, and the player with the most coins wins the game!
