Each turn, one of the characters will work for you and perform special actions. But who chooses which characters? And how do you outsmart everyone? In Machiavelli you have to build buildings by paying with coins. The more expensive the building, the more points it will earn at the end of the game. To help you, you can choose from different characters at the start of a round. For example, the King always lets you choose a character first, the Murderess eliminates other characters and the Merchant ensures that you get extra money. After each round, the characters are redistributed, so that another player can become King, for example. Machiavelli has been a popular game for years thanks to the strong interaction between players. Anyone who intelligently estimates who chooses which characters can manipulate the entire game. Although you only use eight characters per game, this edition contains no fewer than 27 different characters. So you can vary widely! Our gaming addiction started with Machiavelli, among other things. We used to play Machiavelli a lot and still play it regularly, because it is just a really fun card game. Especially the combination of having a secret role and building your own city works very well for us. In Machiavelli, everyone gets to choose a role. Because all roles are only in it once, you don't always get the role you want. Then, all characters are called one by one by the king and they get to take their turn. A turn in Machiavelli consists of executing your character's special power and getting coins or building buildings. Because the characters in Machiavelli are so different, it is exciting every round. For example, you have the murderer who can murder one character. As a result, that character cannot do anything in that round of Machiavelli! Or you have the thief who can steal from another player. All of that makes every game of Machiavelli super exciting!

Machiavelli extensions

Have you played quite a few games of Machiavelli by now? Then it might be time for an expansion. Fortunately, you can quickly get started with Machiavelli: The Dark Lands. In it, you will find many new buildings and new characters that will make your Machiavelli game feel fresh again. As far as we are concerned, Machiavelli: The Dark Lands is a big recommendation for fans.
