Each player receives 5 bean cards and must keep them in order in his hand. Furthermore, each player has two bean fields. He may grow one type of beans on each of them. On your turn, you must grow the first card and the second card from your hand. Then you reveal two new bean cards, which you can keep or trade. You may also trade cards from your hand. This can be useful, because a bean field is worth more if it contains more cards of a kind. And if you have to grow a species that is not available, you have to sell another. And that may come too soon... However, you can choose once per game to buy an extra bean field for three thalers. The game ends when the stack of bean cards has been played through three times. Whoever has the most money after that wins. Boonanza is a fascinating trading game from the author of Agricola and Le Havre and is highly recommended for fans of, for example, The Settlers of Catan.
